Welcome to our website!

We are delighted that you have found your way to us. On these pages we introduce you to our non-profit association Rosii Manno e.V., which is financed exclusively by donations and membership fees.

Who we are

Rosii Manno e.V. is a non-profit and charitable initiative dedicated to youth welfare and development cooperation. We currently sponsor and support 20 children who have to live in extreme poverty in southern Ethiopia and whose families cannot provide basic care and schooling from their own resources. All of us at Rosii Manno are convinced that education is a cornerstone for a self-determined and dignified life, and that every child, no matter where he or she happens to be born, should be able to grow up healthy and flourish.

Who we stand up for - the Rosii Manno children

Alemitu Tesfaye

Alemitu lives with her family and cows in a clay house with a grass roof through which sometimes the rain pours. She shares her bedspread with her sisters. She likes the cows very much, but not so much to clean up the cow dung in the house. After school and chores at home she likes to play hide and seek, but her favorite thing of all is skipping rope. She does not want to become a potter, but a teacher. In the distant future, Alemitu would like to have a "house car". Alemitu has been with Rosii Manno since August 2020.

Where we are active

The village of Funamura is located in the Kambaata country and belongs to the Angacha district in the Kembata Tenbaro Zone in Southern Ethiopia (SNNPR). The Kambaata, with their own Cushitic language, are one of the many ethnic groups in Ethiopia. They inhabit areas of the highlands about 250 km south of the capital Addis Ababa. The majority are farmers who grow various cereals and cultivate ensete (so-called "false banana") as a staple food.
